I can’t imagine it actually had to do with Ida. Folks who had generators in our neighborhood had internet. My mom did not sleep well on the flight as well and did not have much appreciation for the in-flight entertainment. However, the ground crew and the in-flight crew were more mediocre in providing the service. That was thee epectation from Etihad on our return. The departure flight from Chicago was a different experience and the crew on the oubound flight from Chicago was extremely helpful and provided food choices that my mom enjoyed. All in all, the business class experience was not great and would consider other airlines who could do a better job in handling special requests. This was deplorable as she was unable to eat much on the flight from Abu Dhabi to Chicago. In addition, my mom was requested the Asian Meal and she was informed that the Asian Meal was not requested in business class. The flight was delayed due to technical issues as well and we left 30 minutes late. It was just a general lack of planning on Etihad's part. They were informed previously that my mom needed wheel chair access through out her trip. This was also an issue as the plane was not connected via a jetway and was connected with stair cases. They made a big deal in providing wheel chair access to her and only provided the wheel chair once we strongly complained about it. While they got a wheel chair for a person whose travels ended in Abu Dhabi, they did not accomodate for my mom who needed wheel chair access as well. There were two people who needed wheel chair access including my mom. However, the ground crew need proper training and need to ensure proper handling of passengers who have special needs.
I had a senior citizen travelling with me in business class while I was travelling in Economy. However, the experience turned out to be more mediocre.
